Lot's of changes around here...I've missed you guys...life has been...interesting?...challenging?...life lately has been difficult to describe...some really good...some...not so much fun..but change is good, right?...I'm still here...and That's a good thing...

I had to close the shop...very sad & bittersweet...I guess it just wasn't the right time for me...

BUT...The kids are wonderful...Crazy...but Wonderful...

The Man is Wonderful too...and I'm a very Lucky Girl...he sees my crazy life and still continues to love & support me...sigh...

The Kitties...well what can I say?...they are adorable...and insane...just like the kids...

Before I knew I was going to have to close the Shop...the Fabulous FiFi came and she and Dan styled the House for an Upcoming article in Romantic Country Magazine...I have no idea when it will appear...but I'll keep you posted...It was SO much fun having them in my home...they were Fantastic!!!...and BIG, BIG news!...FiFi has a new book coming out..I still can't figure out how to link in a post but FiFi's link is right on my sidebar...So go to her blog and get all the details...The sneak peek looks absolutely AWESOME!!!...

I'm working lot's...last count I have three jobs..and I am so grateful for each and every one of them...doesn't leave a lot of time to create.....I'm gonna be doing a give away soon,though...when I can find the things that I set aside to give away that is!!! :-))))
So I'm keeping the Faith in my own way...trying to be grateful for all that I have...

and keeping the Bluebird of Happiness close at hand...

Gloomy day here...perfect for sewing and blogging...hmmmm...and making Tollhouse Cookies!...YUM!!!!...Ah...the perks (or dangers!!!) of working at home...Such Heaven!...
I had a really fun weekend!...The Adorable Elyse and her Sweet Sister Betsy traveled to the Cape for a girlie weekend and stopped by for a visit!...but first they stopped in down the road (up the road??) at Marilee's Lovely Shop Rose Briar Studio!!...Check out Elyse's blog Cottage for some great pictures of Marilee's Shop!...http://tinkeredtreasures.blogspot.com/...(I LOVE those Vintage Wedding Girls in the pic! I'm going to have to stay away!!)...
Then they stopped in to see me!!...YIPPEE!!!...Elyse brought me a Package of her Sweet Little Treasures!!!...She is so very Talented and has such a cool way of putting things together...We had so much fun!...It's really funny how you can meet a person...and feel as though you've known them FOREVER!...That's what happened the first time I met this Sweet Girl...I mean truly...How can you not love a person that gives you photo editing priviliges on THEIR blog!...and when you tell them that you hate and despise the picture of you (because you are EXTREMELY vain and silly!)...they post THIS one instead!...Which I must say is a VERY accurate Likeness of me!...Giggle!...

O.K....Here's some silly randomness for the day...Some Construction Guys are busily ripping up the street in front of the House/shop...makes for a very quiet (customer-wise!!) day!...Not so quiet in the noise sense but...You guys have been asking for a Kitty update...snapped these pics this weekend also quiet because of the Monsoon like weather that we had!...Here's Rosie...she thinks this is HER bed!...Usually I will find her sound asleep under the Lampshade...silly Kitty!...

Now Lucy on the other hand prefers the Quilt Cupboard....

Ah...and here's Kate...she just can't seem to stand seeing a sleeping Kitty without Shrieking how cute they are...which promptly scares the you know what out of them and wakes them up!...She's a piece of work My Kate is!..

Now, Lastly...Is a pillow that I just finished...LOVE it...I was inspired By Rachel Ashwell's newest book!...There's what looks to be a tattered, vintage round pink pillow on the cover and then again shown in the book...LOVED this book!... Catching Up....and Pretty Things that Sparkle!

This Weekend was just the Best!...I would say an Old Friend..but THAT just sounds wrong...so I'm gonna say the friend that I've KNOWN the longest...came for the weekend!...I've lived here on the Cape for 12 Years...12 YEARS!..(Mind you we grew up together...lived right across the street and in the same town for most of our lives...)BUT...this is the first time she's been here!!... to visit!!...
In your Childhood or I guess I should say Pre-Teen years...did you ever meet someone and Know...just Know...that the world you lived in had just changed in a BIG way...That it was really never, ever gonna be the same...that this new friend was gonna rock your world...and shake things up...Well this is the chickie pie that did just that...from the minute she moved in across the street in the summer before 7th grade with her cool (no one in town had ever seen never mind thought of!!) BLACK fingernail polish...I just knew...interesting things were gonna happen...and Boy did they ever!...I won't divulge the details (OK...maybe JUST one...One Day my Mom was looking out the front window (we lived on Main St.) and said...Well...If I didn't know any better I'd say I just saw Andra drive by in the Mercury..and Me with a stricken look on my face trying to be all innocent said...Of course It's not Andra! Why would she be driving the Merc??... (we were only like,13 at the time!)but it most definitely WAS Andra!) course those were very different times...much more innocent...and kids didn't end up in Jail for stuff like that!... It was truly FUNNY then!!!.....)... We picked up right where we had left off 12 years ago as if no time at all had passed...After she had left yesterday...My kids were talking...they were saying how much fun she was...how crazy...and interesting...and cool!!!...and then...as they were talking and kidding with each other...one of them said...Yeah...it was just like having two of Mom around!...and they all laughed and agreed...Me!...just like having two of ME around!...did you hear what they said...she was FUN...and COOL...and Interesting! (Oh, I bet you noticed I left out the crazy part! uh huh, that's right...LEFT OUT THE CRAZY PART!!!...chuckle!)...I gotta say...THAT was probably...almost the best part of the whole weekend...my kids...thinkin'...That I am cool...interesting and fun (STOP bringing up the crazy part!!!)...Hmmmm...I think my job as a Mother is done...I can finally rest...I'm COOOOL!

Oh Jeeze...Sam is complaining that he doesn't have clean boxers for school tomorrow and Kate actually wants dinner...and T wants to borrow $10 for gas...sigh...OK...maybe not done yet...but that's OK...what would be the FUN in THAT???...

A Few weeks ago...I had a Visit from Roberta of Enchanted Treasures!...Her Shop was located in Fairhaven MA...I never did get a chance to visit in person but everyone that I know that did get the opportunity to stop in and visit, says it was one of THE MOST dreamy places on the planet! I've clipped and saved in My inspiration folders, the articles That were done on Roberta and her Sweet Seaside Cottage in Romantic Homes!!...Gorgeous and Inspiring!....Her Lovely Home is one of the Cottages Featured in The New Book Waterside Cottages by Barbara Jacksier! (Available thru Roberta's website www.enchantedtreasures.com)... NEVER,EVER did I think as I was saving those beautiful articles about her... that I would get to meet her in person!...We had the best visit!...What a warm and lovely woman she is!...One of those Special People that you meet...and feel as though you've known them forever!....I stole...er...I mean...borrowed some of her pics from the website and her blog to share with you!...First...Lovely pics from her website!

First thing I've GOTTA say is THANK YOU to sweetie pie Elyse for her wonderful blog post about coming to visit Vintage Lizzie!...It was SO much fun to actually meet her in person!...I SO enjoy reading her blog and love all of her pretties and to actually get the chance to meet in person is SO cool!...In fact in honor of her visit and all the sweet comments about her Goodie box...I'm going to be doing my very first give away!...but I'll post more on that later!!...

In Her post the other day...Elyse was talking about her trip to Cape Cod...where we really are known for our Hydrangeas...the different shades of blue are amazing...Here are some pics of my "Summer" living room!... in the winter it wears warm and happy pinks, greens and creams...but in the summertime...bring on those cool blues and minty greens!...Hope you have a wonderful day...warm and OH so sticky here!...Yuck!...

How could I possibly resist these Sweet Little Faces???
Isn't it funny how things happen?...A couple of weeks ago one of my very sweet customers, Liz came into the shop...It's always wonderful to see her because she's just one of those really nice people....you know...the kind you are always happy to see...anyway...as she was leaving she spied these Sweet Vintage Pillowcases! (Some of Lorraine's Vintage Goodies!)
and was saying oh how cute!....and then she started to tell me that she was fostering a Momma Cat who had just given birth to 6 kittens for one of our local shelters...and I told her that the kids and I had been looking for a kitten ever since we moved into our new house...BUT that we REALLY, REALLY wanted an orange (I call them Marmalade!) Tiger kitten and I really wanted a girl (Kate and I are out numbered by smelly boys! Sorry Guys!...You know I LOVE you!)...Now for this part of the story...I feel like I need a Drumroll...OK...So you PRETEND you hear a drumroll...Liz said ...THREE of the kittens are Orange Tigers!...AND girls!!!... Fate....kismet...call it whatever you want...that was pretty darn cool!...then when Liz Emailed me this picture...our fate was sealed...it was all over...the fat lady sang...they had to be ours!
We were hooked...And we are all in LOVE!...So...meet the new members of our family (as if there aren't enough of us already!!...) Lucy and Rosie...They are so sweet and lovable and so much fun to watch..Oh...and did I mention insane!...Ha!!...It's amazing how two little furballs can make Five people so happy...but there it is...Karma....and Kitty Love!...the wait was worth it...sigh...

I am One of the lucky ones...to have been blessed with the Best Mom on the Planet...She was Funny and Smart and Always Knew EVERYTHING! (Wish I'd have realised that then!..Woulda saved me so much....GRRRR!!!!)...and just a wee bit crazy which made her so much fun!...She was a Teacher down to her very soul...remembered EVERY kid she had...and they remembered her too...It was so funny to see these great big men come up to her in the Local Market...with these great big grins on their faces and Saying "Mrs. Conlin, I bet you don't remember me!"...and then the surprised looks on those faces that reduced them to the little boys that they once were, when she would say Of course I do and would say their name and ask them what they were doing and where were they living!!...Really REMEMBERING them!...Miss her everyday....So...Give your Mom an Extra Hug for me...and enjoy each and every moment...even the crabby ones!!...You will be REALLY happy that you did!!!...Big Hugs to you and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!

Hi Guys! Sorry I've been, yet again, a bad Blogger!...Life just happens sometimes, Huh??

I was just reading Rachel Ashwell's latest blog entry. I don't usually comment on stuff like this...but I just have to say...I think she is Amazing...Absolutely Amazing. The Fact that she is putting herself out there posting and sharing this with us, Her thoughts, Her feelings and Her fears is so very Brave. She says it's because of us. Because of the love, support and encouragement, We as her customers and fellow bloggers have given her. That she's printed each & every comment to save because those comments are a big part of what is helping her get through this very difficult time.
There are many people out there that get their chuckles from watching the mighty & famous fall....but I also know that there are so many, many more of us here to lend our support, our prayers, appreciation and our hugs!
I know what Rachel Ashwell and Shabby Chic have given my life over the years and I know that many of you out there do to. I know that Rachel gave a legitimacy to the decorating style that I have loved since I was a teen, dragging an old wicker chair that my Dad was trying to take to the dump up the front stairs to stash in my bedroom.(Man, I wish I coulda gotten the Sofa that went with it up those stairs too!!...I still have the chair all these years later!!)...Thanks to Rachel,Now, the tattered, the chipped, the tarnished, the slipcovered and the well loved had a name...Shabby Chic....this was no longer junk... stuff that other people had tired of and discarded...stuff that you were making do with till you could buy something better...This was and is and always will be Shabby Chic.

Even those of you that might think...I am SO not into pink & white & all those rosie florals... that's not what it's all about....to me...it's about having an affinity for things with a past, things that are not perfect,things that have been well loved and a bit tattered or torn and showing their age...and if you have that affinity... well then you GET Shabby Chic... because I really think it's about the past meeting the present...it's about respecting the people that have come before us and the people that will come after...it's about making our nests comfy, safe & happy... It's about passing the love & the Karma along and I say to Rachel...Hang in there, Baby!...Have Faith... because Shabby Chic isn't just a decorating style...it's a LIFESTYLE...and It's because of YOU that this is true...and it will be around for a long, long time!!!

Hey Guys!...Thanks for all your answers to my silly questions!...I really appreciate the time that you took!...So sorry to be missing in action too!...I will NEVER get peeved again that my Favorite Bloggers don't update everyday!!...That's What I used to do...check everyday to see what was new...and when there wasn't anything...I'd be like...GRRRR!!!...but NOW...I realize that it's WORK!...Fun but still work SO...no more GRRRRing!...

Several Years ago, I started collecting vintage ceramic Mermaids. When I started, I would just buy any that I found even if I wasn't in love with them. Over the years though, I've been a REALLY good girl...and I've downsized my collection to only the Girls That I absolutely LOVE....Whenever I see their sweet little faces it's sure to make me Happy!....

It's Raining again here on the Cape...seems EVERY weekend lately it's snowing or Raining...Makes for a very SLOW day in the shop...I would have thought that we New Englanders were made of hardier stock than to let a little snow or rain keep us home...but there you have it!...So...as I looked around the shop/house...and being kinda bored and lonely with no one to talk to...I realized that I seem to have a Lampshade Fetish...Yup...That's right ...It seems as though I can't just leave a lampshade be...I have to..hmmm...I guess Vintage Lizzie it...so here are a few pics of my Pretty Lampshades...some in the Shop and some in the The House or my Studio...all gussied up...

Here's a really Cool thing that my Friend Lorraine over at Ruffle's and Roses did with a tattered old lampshade!...She took off all the icky stuff and patiently....(hmmm...well knowing Lorraine, it probably wasn't all that patiently!...giggle!)...wound Pretty, Pink Seam Binding all around the wires of the frame!...Then she added some Sweet Little Birdie's from Nicole Sayre That Lorraine sells at Ruffles and Roses!...How Happy is THAT??....You remember Ruffles and Roses in Chatham, MA on Beautiful Cape Cod...A heavenly shop filled with Lot's of Lorraine's Gorgeous Vintage Linens andPretties!...We were so very lucky to be featured in the June Issue of Romantic Homes Magazine...took the photos and everything ourselves and Boy did we ever have fun!...Now Lorraine has moved Ruffles and Roses to an Adorable Cottage that sit's right on her property on Paine's Creek in Brewster...just 10 minutes away from me on historic Route 6A here on the Cape....if you are ever in the area give Lorraine a call as she's only open a couple of Saturdays a month!...here's her # (508) 896-8798!!.....It's SO beautiful!...Here are a few more pics to entice you!...Enjoy!

Getting Ready for Santa!!

Nice Little Cozy spot in the shop....

Don't you just love this tree??...I was trying to find a tree for the Shop and I just knew that I Had to have a white one...and to tell you the truth...I really didn't want to spend any money...and Lookey here!!!....My Brother and Sister in Law inherited this beauty when they bought their house!...and How perfect is it!....and it's mine!!...all mine!!!

Some Sweet Snowmen just waiting for Santa to show up...or for it to stop raining...seems as though it's been raining forever...and My studio has sprung quite a few leaks...I'll post some pics later....spent all day yesterday moving things around so they won't get wet...fortunately...none of the custom orders were in the drip zone!!...How lucky was that...considering the drip zone is MOST of the ceiling!!...But on the bright side...I LOVE the studio arrangement WAY better than before....so I guess those drippy clouds had a major silver lining!!!...
